Goodness! It's easy to ascertain is was almost 2am when I wrote that post! I'm the one that posted it and I can't even make it out! (laugh) If you haven't as of yet done so, I reccommend reading " 'The Winds of God' (The Story of the Early Pentecostal Movement (1901-1914) in the Life of Howard A. Goss)". Apostle Goss' love for Jesus Christ WILL cause you to realize you are in the presence of the Holy Ghost as you read. Many of the "standards" and some of the "conduct" by which we go by today are "safety measures" from the Early Days. Goss and Rev. E.N. Bell called a meeting of several independant Pentecostal ministers to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Out of those meetings came the General Council of the Assemblies of God, with Goss as the AOG's very first Bishop (though now, in a discrimnatory way, they have removed all references to Apostle Goss out of their storied history on the internet). When it appeared that Oneness Truth was poised to take over the entire Assemblies of God, the General Council adopted its strongly trinitarian "16 Points" and disfellowshipped the Oneness ministers and churches in its midst.

The Clergy rolls plummeted and entire districts were "wiped off the map" by the legislation -- but Pentecost went on.
